Does anyone have the latest on this?  I'm thinking it's dead in the water thanks to Dockery.

Just posted an article from the Orlando Sentinel to our blog on this.

SunRail won't go forward unless a miracle happens at the state legislature today.

That miracle did not occur. SunRail was voted down again yesterday.

My personal concern is that this failure will be seen by the Feds as another example of Florida's "failure to launch" on passenger rail projects, thereby hurting our chances for future rail transportation funding.

We will see. Perhaps SunRail can be repackaged and sold another way. I think a stop in Lakeland might be a wise idea the next time around, though!

Think that we have learned that going thru any entity other than Amtrak, will slow down progress and waste taxpayer's money . Amtrak have eminent domain so to speak . VRE is a great example of how Amtrak can run a commuter service. I have contacted both Mica's and Brown's office suggesting that Amtrak be brought in before the deadline on Sun Rail comes , to salvage it .
